Can you help me find tea-length ballgown wedding dresses?
Q. I would like a garden wedding and think tea-length would be perfect. I always dreamed of a ballgown dress. I also want it strapless with a laced up back maybe with a bow on one side and some flowery or sparkly embellishments to go with the theme. I know of Stephanie James already, who specializes in tea-length dresses, but anyone else? THX!

Is it okay to wear silver shoes with a white ballgown wedding dress?
Q. My wedding is coming up in June and I have yet to find shoes. I was going to go with satin white, but very hard to find because the colors are off a little. Would it be ok to wear silver shoes with a white satin ballgown wedding dress? I know white and silver match but not sure if it is the same for a wedding. Please let me know. Thanks so much.
Asked by Gloria G - Wed Apr 23 10:25:26 2008 - - 25 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Sure... just make them strappy sandal heels. Regular full coverage shoes in any metallic color is a bit much and gets tacky fast.

What is the difference between an A-Line dress and a ballgown?
Q. (in terms of how it fits you and how the skirt looks?) And which one do you like better?

A. an A-line dress just flares out towards the bottom, a ballgown, its a crazy gigantic poofy circle that covers alot more floorspace, and has alot of volume, and is made up of alot of layers, an A-line is much simpler, and not as fussy

Can a satin ballgown which is polyester material and says dryclean only be handwashed in a bath?
Q. Can a satin ballgown which is polyester material and says dryclean only be handwashed in a bath?
Asked by hummy_c - Sun Jun 17 07:09:41 2007 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Yes. Water won't do anything to the material, neither make it shrink. However, the gown may loose its form, such as some crease, which was ironed on with starch or other stuff. You need to make sure all the materials used on the gown is polyester because different materials may react to water differently (such as shrinking). It is also difficult to iron at home after wash if you don't have the equipment such as the things the tailors/dry cleaners use to iron the shoulders and sleeves, etc.

Can someone advise me how to sell my once-worn Tom Ford designed Gucci ballgown and shoes?
Q. I live in London and have the option of selling the items on the Internet or by advertising in newspapaers or magazines. They are worth 1000s so I want to know where I can get the best deal.
Asked by Aunty Moo - Wed Jan 10 12:31:20 2007 - - 16 Answers - 0 Comments
A. you can sell it on ebay and that may be the easiest and most profitable way to do it. ads in the paper/ magazine can be very intrusive since people will be contacting you. on ebay, you can set a minimum to sell. i would advise you to research the items as some tom ford items are super desirable. by doing so, you can set a minimum sell price and know what to expect. if you do not want to bother with any of this, try a consignment shop but they will not give you top dollar.

Girls - How much do you pay for a Prom/Ballgown?
Q. And how many occassions would you wear it before buying a new one? Just some basic market research - lots of answers would be really great! and info on age would be useful too - Thanks!
Asked by acss - Mon Sep 15 13:48:37 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I would say no more than 150. Some girls went crazy and spent like 250 but I just think, why? Very few people wear it more than once, so why spent a ridiculous amount of money. My Senior School prom dress was 120 but I still waited until it was half-price in the sale. Some styles of dress come cheaper though, price depends a lot on the style. The dress I had for Sixth Form prom was 80 full price. Both times the style I went after was one of the cheaper ones, but hey! I loved them

Red Ballgown, what colour shoes and bag??
Q. I have a beautiful red ball gown for my christmas do, I need help deciding what colour shoes and handbag. some of my friends say black looks trashy with red, but other than silver or gold which I'm not particularly mad on I can't think of any other colour that goes. I prefer closed toe shoes and was planning on wearing a mini top hat, what are your opinions please???
Asked by charly_lou - Mon Nov 12 17:50:06 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Only 2 ways you can go with a red dress... either RED shoes and a RED bag OR black shoes and a black bag... Tell your "friends" that you are the one wearing the red dress, not them... if you wear SILVER shoes and bag then you can have absolutely no gold jewelry on at ALL--it will clash and look awful together... AND, if you wear GOLD, then any jewelry you DO wear will look like you over did it... UNLESS all you wore was a small gold CHOKER and red stone earrings...or TINY gold earrings--nothing big or bold...

A. A ball gown is a floor length dress usually made of silk, satin or some other material of that sort. It is the female equivalent of "white tie" (white tie being a man's white tuxedo usually with tails). White tie events are more formal than black tie events (regular tuxedo. Many proms are black tie events. A white tie event would be more like a gala event like going to the Oscars, or something like that.

How to sell a personal item safely to a buyer in a different state?
Q. I have an item to sell (namely, a ballgown) wich is around $1000. I found an ad where somebody is looking for a ballgown that fits the description. I sent them pictures and they say they want to try it on. If it fits, they want to buy it. Now the question is, how do we proceed? They are in a different state. Obviously, both sides are somewhat worried, because we are complete strangers. Travelling to that state doesn't make sence because it will cost at least $500 Deposit sounds like a reasonable idea. How much should I ask for?
