What word means worldly rather than spiritual? What is the doctine that held that god determines everything?
Q. Two questions for you- What word means "worldly rather than spiritual?" What was the doctrine that held that God determines everything that happens in the past, present, and future? Please help! Thanks! Thank you- secular fits in for the first one!! (It's a crossword). The second one is 14 letters if that helps? I don't think it necessarily has to be a book in the bible...

What does it means when your child is referred to as tactile?
Q. My son's teacher has mentioned this a few times and I don't fully understand what she means. Can someone please explain in regular layman's language?
Asked by joy - Fri Nov 2 01:02:21 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Hey Joy! Educators have learned that everyone learns in different ways, and that they should be taught according to the best way that they learn. Visual learners, for example, learn best by seeing, such as show and tell. Whereas auditory learners learn best by hearing, for example, though lectures. Your son is apparently a tactile learner. Tactile learners like him, learn best by doing, touch and movement, such as playing, drawing, making things, experiencing sensations, etc.

What does data rate means in digital camera video recording?
Q. My canon sx100 IS digital camera has two options for video recording. 1. Normal mode 2. LP mode LP mode enables to record twice as much video then normal mode. I recorded on both mode and found following information when I checked the video file properties. Normal mode: Data Rate 14884kbps LP mode: Data Rate 7384kbps Does lower data rate means poor quality video then higher data rate?
Asked by MD R - Sun Apr 5 19:52:44 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Data rate (also bitrate) is the rate of recording... basically, how much data is used to represent your video. So yeah, if you drop to half the amount of information, something has to suffer. There are points beyond which you need a trained eye to tell the difference... consumer tape records at 25Mb/s, some higher end pro formats go to 50Mb/s or even 100Mb/s, but much of that would be lost on the average viewer. However, when you have different settings on your camcoder or still camera with video features, you better believe you'll see a difference. Sometimes the lower video modes also go to a lower resolution, other times, not so much. Consider your Canon SX100. Your best video mode is recording at 640x480 resolution at 30… [cont.]

What faster, more pratical means of transportation than the airplane do you envision for the near future?
Q. If you've taken a plane recently, you know how awful the experience can be. Long lineups, security check points, not to mention customs, and long hours in a confined space, etc. For instance, travelling from North America to Asia shouldn't take 10 hours. What other means of transportation do you envision for the near future? Would you prefer a faster mode of transportation, or a slower, more comfortable one?
Asked by Diet Pepsi Max Fan - Wed Feb 10 11:03:54 2010 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. High-speed trains are already preferable to aircraft for distances under 1000 miles or so. They get you from door to door a lot faster than airplanes, all things considered. They are not used in the U.S., however.

What would be the possible means of communication and transport in a space colony?
Q. If we are setting up a space colony, how are we going to communicate with each other. MENTION the whole structure of network that will be spread and how will you run it. Secondly, how are we going to travel. Mention the different means of transport an their working.
Asked by Scholar - Sat May 24 01:59:14 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Well with space colonies i'm sure some of the people there would want to send packages to there loved ones on earth, so some kind of outer space mail carrier service would probably develop kind of like the old pony express except an outer space version, cargo ships delivering supplies to the space colonies could make some extra money working as a kind of outer space pony express service, communication would mostly be done through radio or microwave but a mail service would also be an important way of communication and sending packages back and forth, after all how would little boys and girls get there Christmas presents from the family on earth with out such a service.

Do the ends justify the means when Democrats / Liberals call others racist when there has been no racism?

Yet when it comes to opposing Obama, they just whip out that race card and never give a thought to ethics and whether the ends justify the means. So Dems / Liberals, is it so important to you that Obama succeed, that you unethically try and silence or destroy the credibility of the opposition by calling them racist? A. Why not have companies provide housing nearby thus eliminating the need for transport alltogether. It doesn`t hurt if you live and work in the same town. In Toronto Can. at least 60% of the downtown traffic is from out of town. both delivery vehicles , and employees who would rather drive than take public transit from a-b. What is the most a person of modest means should spend on a dying pet?
Q. I took my cat (Homey) to the vet today as she hasn't been herself. She's 15yrs old, and I'm not trying to prolong her life as much as I am trying to make her final days comfortable. I make roughly 35,000 a year, and her bill exceeds 2k. I love her and am going to pay, but it will means Raman noodle soup and a return to sobriety for at least 3 months. Can you put a number on such things? Am I improperly equating her comfort for mine?
Asked by mattybear83 - Wed Oct 10 19:46:19 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I am in that very same situation right now with my dog. It's certainly not an easy decision to make. But, at some point, you have to put the importance of your financial security over the immanent (and unavoidable) death of your pet. Tell your vet how you are feeling, and ask him/her to help you decide when more money just won't make a difference. After that, all you can do is try your best to make things comfortable for her. I'm very sorry. I know it's hard.

What the doctor means to be totally effaced?
Q. Hello I am 37 weeks and 3 days pregnant with baby #1 and well I am a little ignorant since is my first pregnancy. My doctor said that my cervix still close but I am 100% effaced. What does it means? I am close to labor. I am very exited to have the baby already, but a little scared at the same time. Would you please help me to understand but the doctor means? Also the baby is already head down. By the way, how does it feel to be in true labor?
Asked by bluejessy - Wed Sep 30 22:05:26 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Dilation is when your cervix opens, whereas effacement is when it thins out. Imagine a ball that is filled with air, if it looses it's air it becomes flatter. That's what it is really, the flattening of your cervix. I noticed I was in labor when my belly would tighten up and not relax if I changed positions. It feels like cramps, but the pain can extend further out in your body. Some women get pains in other areas (legs, back, etc) when they are having a contraction. The amount of pain is different for each woman and they do get worse as your labor progresses.

what does GDP means in a countrys economic terms or in the world economy?
Q. Does GDP means how rich a country is?If ones GDP is high, does it mean the country is rich? How is it measured?
Asked by mariam z - Mon Oct 1 09:17:45 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. GDP = Gross Domestic Product. this doesnt reflect how rich a country is, it tells you how much that country has produced in goods. A basic way to tell how rich a country is to divide GDP by the number of people in that country. If a country of 2 people sold $5 million in goods, the average person is making $2.5 million. but if a country has 1 million people, and makes $25 million in goods, they are individually making $25.00 each, and are poor, even though the GDP is higher than the first nation. as for how its measured i dont know. its probably an analysis of all the companies within the nation, their revenues, cross referencing with tax records, along with other statistics (importing/exporting records), independent trackers of sold… [cont.]

How should you manage relatives who spend beyond their means?
Q. It seems that most of my family are really bad about living within their means. Someone is always worried about how they are going to pay the mortgage, when their car is going to get repoed, etc. It frustrates me because none of my family members will go to college. At this point only 1 really has the option to go to college, and he isn't taking it. I don't want to be in a position where my family comes to me looking for bailouts. Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly willing to help, but I don't want to drown in their debts either.

A. There's nothing wrong with helping people out, but you have no obligation to be their personal piggy bank. If they start coming to you and constantly asking for money, tell them you can't afford it at the moment or have things you need to take care of first. And don't let them make you feel guilty about it. You have every right to take care of yourself.

Does the government bailout plan means that the government would become a larger shareholder of the company?
Q. Government bailout means injecting the money into a company. By bailing out, does it mean the government would get more share? For example, government injected 85m to AIG, so now government is a larger shareholder of the AIG?

A. AIG yes, others maybe. It depends if the fed buys new stock (then yes and the company gets the money), stock in the market (then no and company gets $0), or buys bonds isuued by the company (they not a shareholder, but the company gets the money, it is just a loan)

A. I'm not sure what it means but it may mean: Did you fill the cup inside the dishwasher with dishwasher soap? Did you turn the hot water on? Buttons aren't set right/pushed in for the wash cycle/dry cycle, etc. Dishwasher isn't closed properly If none of these suggestions work, get the serial number & model number off the washer, then call a dealer that sells that brand, give them the numbers, & maybe they can send you a booklet or the repairman will have to come but that info will be valueable to him. P.S. When using the dishwasher: (1) Connect the hose to the drain & turn hot water on (2) Then plug it in **Sam H...she said she has NO manual!!!

What word means being able to use one foot as well as the other?
Q. Ambidexterous means you can use one hand as well as the other, but the dictionary says nothing about both feet.
Asked by Jdrox - Sat May 31 00:30:24 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. "Ambidexterity is the state of being equally adept in the use of both right and left appendages." That is the definition I found on wikipedia. Since the feet and/or legs are also appendages, they would be included in this definition. The page contains a lot of information about having equally adept hands as well as two dominant feet. Hope that helped!
